Are you thinking of getting a reptile? Do you have one already and want to give them the best products out there? Below you will find a few must-have enclosure items from ZooMed for your scaled friend.
Nocturnal Infrared Heat Lamp
Made of true red glass, this bulb is perfect for a 24 hour heat source for all types of reptiles.
Reptiles need heat 24/7. The Nocturnal Infrared Heat Lamp is the perfect heat bulb for your pet as it will not disrupt their sleep patterns and it provides enough lights for your nighttime viewing.
This bulb is available in 50w, 75w, 100w, 150w and 250w. Choose the right bulb for the size of your inclosure. If you are using a small tank, use the smallest wattage available, not to accidentally burn your pet.
ReptiSun® 10.0 UVB T5 HO – High Output Linear Lamp
Just like us, reptiles need a day and night cycle. The ReptiSun 10.0 UVB light is the BEST light to use.
Stronger UVB and Brighter Light: Twice as strong as standard ReptiSun® 10.0 Lamps!
- Increased UVB Output: Perfect for larger reptile habitats (see lamp distance notes on package).
- Helps to prevent or reverse Metabolic Bone Disease commonly seen in captive reptiles.
- Used and recommended by Zoos, Veterinarians, and top reptile professionals.
- High quality Made in Germany.
Just like the previous light mentioned, use the right wattage for the size of your enclosure.
Eco Carpet
Eco Carpet is perfect for lining the bottom of an enclosure. It is soft, absorbent and non-abrasive.
I prefer using Eco Carpet and tiles over any other. The Eco Carpet is totally safe and cannot be ingested by your pet, unlike sand and other cage lining which could potentially harm some reptile species. My Bearded dragon has actually taught himself to do his “business” on the tiles instead of on the carpet, so our Eco Carpet does not have to be washed as much, but I recommend giving the Eco Carpet a full wash (mild soap and water and hang dry) at least once a week to prevent bacteria from spreading. Clean soiled area as soon as possible
Mopani Wood
You need different levels in your enclosure. Depending on the reptile, you need hides and basking areas. The Mopani Wood is perfect for a basking spot. The Mopani wood has been sandblasted clean. This makes for a smooth surface.
My Bearded Dragon really loves the textures on his Mopani wood. When shedding he scratches himself on the rough parts of the wood to help the shed come loose.
If placing it against the wall of enclosure, make sure it is secure and cannot accidentally fall and hurt your pet.
There you have it! our Top 4 must haves for reptile enclosures.
