On the day Ben made the difficult decision to euthanize his beloved dog, his wishes were to bury his pet at home. In his state of mind during that stress, he incorrectly made assumptions about “how” his dog would be returned for burial. He was wrong. He was anything but “prepared”. His little companion was returned in a glorified plastic bag. It bothered him and he couldn’t let go of this horrible experience. That’s when he decided to create a company to provide a better way for pets to come home.
After several years of research and development, Paw Pods was created. Since Ben is a “green” kind of guy, he didn’t want to make a product that added to the environmental problems. It would have to be 100% green, sustainable and biodegradable. But unlike so many “pet caskets” he wanted sturdy, strong construction not flimsy paper. “Paw Pods” was created with these goals in mind and the pet urns and pet pods or burial caskets are created out of sustainable bamboo and rice husk. There are no artificial colors added, and that is why they resonate a natural ‘golden’ color.
Suitable for small dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. and measures 18” x 12.5” x 8”. Interior dimensions are 16″ x 12″ x 6″. All PawPods are Eco-friendly and are made of bamboo powder, rice husk, and corn starch.
Each Pod comes with a seeded sympathy card that can be planted to create a living memorial of the beloved pet. PawPods degrade in 3-5 years after being introduced to the environment. All of the Pods have been designed so that they can be decorated with paint, marker, or stickers to add a personalized touch.
The Fish Pod
Suitable for small to medium size fish such as Goldfish or Beta Fish, and measures 4.75” x 2.9” x 2”. All fish pods are also Eco-friendly and are made of the same materials as the medium pawpod.
Each Fish Pod also comes with a seeded sympathy card that can be planted to create a living memorial of the beloved pet. The Pods degrade in 3-5 years after being introduced to the environment.
Most people believe that flushing is the simplest and most acceptable method for fish disposal. What the average fish keeper doesn’t realize is that flushing is not only dangerous for the environment but it is illegal. That’s right, flushing a fish down the toilet risks introducing potential pathogens into the watershed and is a major no-no. Not to mention that it clearly upsets children. Bottom line, never flush a fish.
PawPods believes that it’s important to incorporate the whole family during this difficult time. PawPods have been designed so they can be decorated with paints, markers, or stickers. It has been shown that art and creativity can be a catalyst for healing. Children enjoy being involved in the process of saying goodbye to their pet, whom they loved.
