Noxx & Dunn Florida Rum

Who knew rum could come from Florida?
The art of rum making in Florida dates to the early years of colonization as Spanish and English settlers cultivated sugar cane in its fertile soil. This continues today by distilling molasses from Florida-grown cane in a combination of light, fruity column distilled rum and heavy, sweeter rum from a pot still.

The Noxx and Dunn 2-4-5 Rum Is carefully aged in the humid Florida climate and blended to create this flavourful and rich rum.

WHAT 2-4-5 MEANS
It’s this simple. The Noxx and Dunn team of craftsmen with almost a century of international distilling knowledge believe that a blend of rums aged 2, 4 and 5 years produces the most consistent and drinkable of spirits. Noxx & Dunn 2-4-5 is aged in Florida’s sub-tropical climate, experiencing extreme heat through the summer months, with a mellowing of the temperature for short periods in the winter. Aged in used American Oak barrels, Noxx & Dunn 2-4-5 draws its colour and enriched flavour from the barrel, own ,and only from the barrel. That is until you mix it into your favourite cocktail or with a splash of whatever…

Dark Rums are traditionally full-bodied, rich, caramel-dominated Rums. The best are produced mostly from pot stills and frequently aged in oak casks for extended periods. The richest of these Rums are consumed straight up.

That delicious oaky rum flavour definitely comes across on the first taste and it is incredibly smooth. Although it is great on its own, it really shines in your favourite cocktail!

From its rich amber colour to the sleek modern bottle shape with its long neck and cork stopper that looks every bit as welcomed on the table at a gathering with friends, as it does behind the bar of your favourite pub. This rum is definitely a showstopper.

We had fun testing the Noxx & Dunn Florida Rum. We tried it on its own, on the rocks and mixed with different drinks (orange juice, dr pepper, and Pepsi).

The orange juice mix by far my favourite of them all. It was like drinking orange juice with a little kick from the rum.

This is the perfect drink for summer entertaining!  Find Noxx & Dunn at LCBO this summer!

Sounds and looks like a great rum, I’m not a drinker anymore, but I did like my rum!

When I initially tried it straight up from a jigger, I thought it was a bit heavy and was going to put it on the back burner with my less favorite rums in my bar at home. Then I mixed it with a bit of Pepsi and I can assure you I was quite impressed. It is smooth as or even better than most rums in this price range ($28,00) and 2nd only to Lambs Spiced Rum which in my opinion is the best darn rum in the world…. I’ve tried literally hundred of brands over the years, and nothing can hold a candle to this rum, but I must admit I did like it better when it was Lambs Black Sheep. The alcohol content was a bit higher and I believe the ingredients were a bit different, and I used to love telling every one I was going home to “tend my sheep” when actually I intended to knock back a few..
Back to our subject, “Great Rum”, you won’t be disappointed.

Had this rum over the weekend. Very smooth. I went online and found a few drink recipes and had a Caesar with Noxx and WOW. No more need for vodka just using this from now on.
