Every material reveals its unique properties as you work with it. They’ve experienced that with paper, whose properties can range from a delicate laced fabric to a sturdy piece of wood. It can be reused, repurposed and recycled. They are intrigued by the amazing designs that can be crafted out of paper and they believe the possibilities are endless!
THEIR CONCEPT
KATRIS’ design team has spent most of their time investigating how to utilize the material to fit the needs of our cat companions. Layers of corrugated cardboard create a very sturdy structure while it creates the necessary surface to scratch. The concept of modularity plays another important part in KATRIS products. Modularity gives the user the flexibility to fit KATRIS into different environments and life styles while inviting play and exploration. It also creates a changing environment to explore for cats.
The Importance of Vertical Space
Cats have an instinctual need to be in high places. That’s why when cats are outdoors in their natural environment, we see them on rooftops, fences, and up in trees.
So when they’re indoor, instead of fighting your cat’s instincts, why not get them a proper place of their own, up high? This gives cats a stronger sense of security in their environment and more territory to play and explore.
Vertical territory helps keep cats safe. Cats can sleep and relax on high cat shelves and cat condos, out of the reach of dogs and children. Wall-mounted furniture also gives cats a safe place to run when they start to feel threatened, while still allowing them to be part of the social action of the house.
KATRIS Shelves
The KATRIS team spent 18 months to create the unique wall mount kit for the KATRIS Shelves.
Like KATRIS Blocks, KATRIS Shelves are hand assembled from 100% recyclable cardboard, using 90% post-consumer recycled content to protect our environment. The wall mountable KATRIS Shelves have a weight limit of 75 lbs. KATRIS Shelves are the only 100% fully recycled paper made cat shelves on the market today. There are five different shapes available – I, L, O, Z and T shapes. You may choose any type of the configuration to fit your home décor and space.
Installation was quick and easy with the simple help of a level, hammer and drill.
Sawyer couldn’t wait to get on there to dig his claws into that fresh cardboard! There’s just something about these scratchers that make him so happy.
I love how versatile KATRIS blocks are. If you have the space, you can create amazing towers. But should you be space challenged as I am, it’s great to have the option of mounting the blocks on the wall.
