My Red Wine Beef Stew

Upon receiving my very own Instant Pot, I decided to make my classic red wine beef stew (simple yet packed with flavors) for my first time using my pot. Nothing could be easier than throwing everything (almost) in the device and let it cook on the stew setting for two hours. You just need to peel and cut the carrots and potatoes.

What you will need :

  • 4 Carrots
  • 6 potatoes
  • Sirloin Roast
  • Canton Red Wine Broth
  • 4 Tablespoons of corn starch
  • 2 teaspoons of oregano
  • 2 teaspoons of basil
  • 4 teaspoons of paprika
  • Salt & Pepper

First, you mix the spices and corn starch together to cover the sirloin roast with it. Then, put the roast in the Instant Pot. Mix what’s left of the spice mix with the broth. Peel and cut the potatoes and carrots then add to the instant pot. Add the broth mix and lock the lid of the Instant Pot.

Set the Instant Pot to Stew with a time setting of 2 hours on high pressure and start the device. You can even set the time ahead so that it’s starts when you are at work. That way, you get home to a great meal perfect for any winter’s day.

After my first experience, I couldn’t believe that what used to take me 4-6 hours to make only took me two. The meat melted in your mouth and the vegetables were packed with the red wine broth. 

I have to admit that the best feature of the instant pot, after it’s versatility, is how easy it is to clean. everything is easily removable and can be washed in the dishwasher. The Instant Pot is really going to make my life easier, healthier and more flavorful.

  1. I have an instant pot too and love it! I cooked a ham in mine the other day and I have to say it was by far the juiciest ham I ever tasted. Thanks for the wonderful recipe you shared. I will be giving it a try too.
