The hot weather has finally arrived for the summer and you can have guests over to your house, which you probably haven’t seen for such a long time in person either. So being able to host the perfect party at home will ensure that things go smoothly and you and your guests have a lovely time. Here are some tips to get you prepared for the big day.
Begin Organizing and Tidying
You might need to start doing a bit of a tidyup so that the rooms are looking nice and clean, particularly if your guests are going to congregate in one room like the kitchen or living room. There will probably be lots of kids toys to pack up and tidy too. So the sooner you begin this process the more you can get done.
Rearrange The Furniture
To create a bit more space for your guests to stand or sit you could try rearranging your furniture a different way around to see if you can create more floor space. This will also create the illusion of a bigger room.
Inform People In Plenty of Time
It is a good idea to plan a bit in advance so that way you can hopefully get as many of your friends and family to attend before they make other plans. Setting up a Facebook or Whatsapp group will also enable you to remind people when you plan to host the party in case anyone does forget.
Spruce Up Your Garden
You want to create a good first impression when your guests arrive so it is a good idea to tidy up the front garden as this will be the first thing your guests see walking up to your house. You could mow the lawn, remove any weeds and add a few vibrant flower pots to make your home look pretty, inviting and well kept.
Clean The Windows
It might be a good idea to give your windows a clean if you have not done this for a while. The last thing you want is for your guests to see dirty, dusty windows.
Stock Up on Bathroom Essentials
You will certainly need things like toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, hand soap and towels so that you do not need to rush out to the shops because you have run out of essentials during the party.
Variety of Foods
When you throw a party you want to provide a good selection of food so that there is something available for everyone. You could put together a vegetarian barbecue which will be great for the non meat eating guests to enjoy as well as providing a traditional one.
Allow Guests to Bring Their Own Dish
Some of your guests will most likely enjoy baking or cooking so you could suggest that anyone who wants to bring a dish or dessert to your party will be most welcome. This will create a lovely selection of different foods for everyone to enjoy and it also enables people to bring something that caters for their specific diet too, which you may not have covered.
Fun Party Games
To add a fun element to your gathering you could rent games for a party. This would enable you to provide a selection of arcade style games which would be entertaining for both the kids and the adults. It would create a bit of fun rivalry too amongst the guests to see which team can win.
Garden Furniture
Having adequate seating in the garden will be ideal so that there is enough for your guests. If you do not have enough seats, you could either borrow some from friends and family or buy a few extra garden chairs that do not cost too much which you will use again in future. If the weather is expected to be hot you will definitely want to include a few parasols too to provide some much needed shade.
Kid Friendly Activities
You do not want your kids to get bored whilst you have your guests round so it will be a good idea to think up some fun activities they can do with any other children that come round. They could do some painting and drawing, outdoor games, anything that can encourage their imagination is ideal. It will make a change from them being glued to an ipad screen or the tv.
Use Eco-Friendly Paper Cutlery
To save you washing up a mountain of dishes it will be worthwhile to buy some eco-friendly disposable cutlery for your guests to use that you can get rid of later. This will save you having to worry whether you have enough plates, cups or cutlery for your guests to use.
Add Some Natural Fragrance To Your Home
You want your home to smell nice so you could include some natural air fresheners that you can just plugin, or add some different fresh flowers in each room, so that when you enter the room you are greeted with a lovely floral scent. Scented candles and oil diffusers are also great ways to make your home smell fresh and fragrant without using any harsh chemicals.
Set Up The Guest Bedroom
If you have the space it might be an idea to prepare the guest bedroom in case one of your guests is staying over for the night. This will be particularly useful for friends or relatives that live quite far away and need to travel a fair distance to get your house. It will also enable you to spend some extra time with them the following day before they depart.
