Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker Review

There is nothing better than a cold treat on a hot summer day.

My kids come running with their piggy banks when they hear the ice cream truck drive by, but it does gets expensive. Seriously, $6 for one cone!

I am so happy that I had the chance to review the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker (and so are my kids).

Lets start with giving you the breakdown of the parts.

Components
The base: The base is made of brushed stainless steel which will give elegance to any kitchen. The heavy-duty motor will easily make frozen yogurt, ice cream, sorbet or frozen drinks in only 25 minutes or less. There is also non slip rubber feet under the base to prevent the machine from moving.  A great feature on this machine is that there is a little storage area behind the unit to place the unused cord to keep counter neat and safe.

Freezer bowl:  The size of the freezer bowl will yield up to 2 quarts (1.9L) and contains cooling liquid within a double insulated wall to create fast and even freezing.

Mixing arm: The plastic mixing arm mixes and aerates ingredients in freezer bowl to create frozen desserts or drinks.

Lid: The transparent easy-lock  lid lets you watch the freezing process.  Pour recipe ingredients through the spout to prevent spills or splash backs. Also use to add ingredients, like chips or nuts, without interrupting the freezing cycle.

It’s simple and easy to use, just add ingredients and turn it on. Seriously, its that easy!

Once all your ingredients are mixed and ready, remove the freezer bowl out of the freezer, pop it into the machine, insert mixing arm and lid. Turn on the machine and pour in your mixed ingredients.  Your frozen treat will be ready in about 25 minutes. I found that leaving my ice cream in for an extra 10 minutes gives it a little firmer texture.

The removable mixing arm and freezer bowl make cleanup easy, just remove from the machine and wash in warm soapy water. Once dry, put the freezer bowl in the freezer so its ready for the next time you want to use it.

The instructions says to leave the freezer bowl in the freezer for 6-12 hours, but I have found that it works best if it is left in the freezer longer. I left mine in for an entire 24 hours before using and it was perfect.

So far, I have only tried making ice cream, I can’t wait to try making frozen yogurt next!
My only complaint about the Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker is that taking the ice cream off the mixing arm is a little hard to do. I use a rubber scraper/spatula to get as much as I can off of it and then end up giving the kids the mixing arm and they lick it clean.
It is also a little noisy, which I expected it to be.

This machine makes delicious ice cream, it tastes so much better than the store bought kind and you know exactly what is put into it.

Seriously, this is an awesome machine and is a MUST HAVE if you love frozen treats!
