Last night I had the amazing privilege to go see the Ottawa Premiere of the movie Cinderella.
I had very high expectations for this movie, after seeing the remake of Maleficent, and it definitely lived up to my standards! This remake of the 1950’s animated film was done beautifully as a live-action movie. Although I’ve seen the animated version dozens of times, this adaption left me on the edge of my seat, still intrigued over what was going to happen next.
When I first saw the casting roles before I got to view the movie, I wasn’t sure if they ‘fit’ what I was expecting the real life Cinderella (and the others’) to look like, but theses actors and actresses played their roles beautifully.
Oh, and the real-life Gus Gus was just as adorable!
Directed by Academy Award® nominee Kenneth Branagh (“Thor,” “Hamlet”) and starring two-time Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine,” “Elizabeth”), Lily James (“Downton Abbey”), Richard Madden (“Game of Thrones”) and Academy Award nominee Helena Bonham Carter (“The King’s Speech,” “Alice in Wonderland”), “Cinderella” is produced by Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Elysium”), Allison Shearmur (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1”) and David Barron (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1”) with Tim Lewis (“Edge of Tomorrow”) serving as executive producer. The screenplay is by Chris Weitz (“About a Boy,” “The Golden Compass”).
Okay, that was my fancy talk.. but my actual, honest feelings about this movie? It was AMAZING! I’m a huge Disney Fan and I was so excited to be able to see this movie and be able to write a review for you all. I’m not getting compensated in any form when I tell you all to go see Cinderella when it comes out on March 13th. Although the movie was rated 14+ I would find it fit for a younger audience, after all, it’s Cinderella! I’m super excited for what Disney has in store for other old classics!
