Chic Choc Spiced Rum

When the love affair between the town rebel and the mayor’s daughter was exposed, he was punished by official decree; scale the unforgiving Chic-Choc mountains to retrieve rare spices guarded by a ferocious beast. Rum bottle in hand, the rebel set off. He returns weeks later, curiously unscathed,  spices steeping in this bottle. Ever since, Chic Choc spiced rum has been enjoyed by daring explorers, adventurers and thrill-seekers alike.

Rum lovers rejoice, here’s something new for you made right here in la belle province de Quebec. Distilled with a traditional pot still, this amber nectar is a base that will give a lot of personality to your cocktails thanks to its homegrown spices.

  • Peppery Green Alder
  • Pine Forest Spikenard
  • Witherod Berries
  • Lovage Root
  • Sweet Gale Seeds
  • Wild Angelica.

These particular spices may not sound familiar, and some of the names don’t sound particularly appetizing. But I can honestly say that I truly enjoyed this rum. I found Chic Choc to be quite smooth and a little sweet with pepper undertones. I ended up trying one of the suggested recipes in the pamphlet provided with my bottle and was pleasantly surprised.

SOMBRE TEMPÊTE

YOU WILL NEED:

45 ml (1 ½ oz.) Chic Choc spiced rum
60 ml (2 oz.) ginger soda (Ginger Ale)
15 ml (½ oz.) lemon juice
Ice cubes

Place ice cubes in glass.
Pour in rum, lemon juice and ginger soda.
Garnish with spruce stem.(optional)

I make no secret of my love of coffee. We’ve been in a pretty long term relationship, even though lately I’ve been trying to put a bit of distance between us. At least with its caffeinated version. But when my co-blogger Melissa suggest that I try adding Chic Choc to my iced coffee, it was a sacrifice I was willing to make for our readers!

YUM! The smooth spice taste of the Chic Choc mixes well with iced coffee – A definite must try!

I believe this rum will not be for every pallet, but I also suspect that there will be many who will enjoy the walk on the wilder side of spiced rum.

Definitely not spiced rum its more like a dark rum or like southern comfort very syrupy. If you like captians Morgan’s or Sailer Jerry’s or oakheart than I wouldn’t recommend this product at all
