Here is a quick tutorial of how to set up the WeMo Insight Switch.
It is so simple to use. All you need is:
- WeMo device
- An item you’d like to control
- Android 4.0 device and later or an iOS device
- Wireless network
Download the FREE WeMo App from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store to any Smart Phone or Tablet.
Once installed, plug the WeMo Insight Switch into an outlet, and go to your wifi settings on your device. Find and connect to the WeMo Insight switch. NOTE: It might take a few minutes before the WeMo device appears in the list of wireless networks.
Once connected, launch the WeMo App and It will then notify you that it’s connected to your WeMo device and will try to connect to your router’s main wireless network.
It will then ask you to enter your router’s wireless network password. Enter your password and tap Join.
You will be notified that it’s attempting to set up remote access. Once the set up is complete, it will prompt you that Remote Access has been enabled.
You will be brought to a window where you will be shown the settings of your WeMo device. You can now edit the Name and other information of your WeMo device.
Once done, you will be directed to the WeMo App Home with your WeMo device in the list.
You are now done and You should have successfully set up your WeMo device.

Home automation will be big in the future, and Belkin’s WeMo Insight Switch and the other WeMo products are bringing us in the right direction. Companies that offer high end smart device installation in the home already exist, with people like Crestron Home Automation leading the way.
I will definitely be purchasing more of the WeMo products.
