Most parent deal with bedtime stalling. As much as we set a certain bedtime routine, there is always one of the kids who tries to stall and stay up a little longer.
Here are a few of our usual excuses;
“I’m really thirsty”
“My pajamas is itchy”
“I’m hungry”
“I can’t sleep”
“My eyeballs hurt”
“Can you tuck me in again” – Which then leads to “can you read me another story”
“I forgot my ***** (Fill in the blank)”
“I need to go to the bathroom” – After spending 10 minutes on the toilet and not doing anything.
If you’re a parent, you’ve heard them all and then some!
My kids like to try and con us into staying up a little later. Just last night, my 4 year old asks me, “Can I stay up a little bit longer? cmon’.. I’ll be your friend” Sorry kid, mommy needs to sleep.
Now that baby #4 is almost due (December 22nd), I try and keep up with the bedtime routine, but sometimes its just not possible. Someone ALWAYS has to try and stay up a little longer.
We do winding down time, which is usually a bath, then 1 hour of quiet play till bedtime, which usually consists of reading a book or watching a show.
To help with those “just 5 more min” negotiators, Netflix and DreamWorks Animation launched the new Dinotrux 5 Minute ‘Favorites’
Tucking them in is magic, it’s just getting there that’s the hard part. So make bedtime a little easier with three new Dinotrux Favorites from Netflix.
We love these quick 5 minute episodes. Sure kids, you can watch one more show, but mommy is picking which one you are watching 😉
For when you have more than five minutes just before bedtime…

What kind of excuses do your kids give you when they want to stay up a little longer?
I think that this a great idea and hope that after the 5 mins kids go to bed much easier 🙂
