We’ve all been there, you’re chatting with your group of friends/ family members and you start talking about last night’s episode of Scandal that was just released on Netflix and you have that one friend that blurts out “What’s Scandal?”
You and your friends now have the task of trying to explain and condense all 7 seasons in a five-minute intense recap all while trying to keep it fun and entertaining.
Your mission if you choose to accept it is to persuade said person into liking this new TV show so that he/she can watch it and then join in on conversations.
If your friends or family are like mine they might be a little strong headed and won’t give in right away. So here are a few tricks to help with your art of Netflix persuasion.
Tricks & Tips
Talk to your friend/family member about your favourite show ALL the time. I’m serious! – start talking about your favourite show and just don’t stop. Tell them why you love it. Your favourite characters. Talk about your favorite episode.
Compare the show to another show. Does the friend/family member you are trying to persuade love a show with a similar premise? Introduce the compare tactic and you are sure to begin reeling them in. (ie: did you know Scadal is created by Shonda Rhimes, the same creator that made your favourite show Grey’s Anatomy)
Show them a trailer. Trailers show just enough to captivate their audience and leave them wanting more.
Always be watching the show when they are around. When you know your friend or family member is coming over, put on an episode. When they get there tell them “I just want to finish this episode…” and notice they will soon start watching and asking questions. (ie: Who is that guy? – Why did she do that? – Where is he going?…)
If the above suggestions haven’t worked, tease away! Give away a tease of a twist or what happens in the show.
If all else fails, simply get a cat, and he’ll watch Scandal with you 😉
Look for some familiar faces this month with brand new adventures from Voltron: Legendary Defender, Dinotrux and Dreamworks Dragons: Race to the Edge, and once the little ones are asleep, parents can watch Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist unite in Marvel’s The Defenders!
