Yardley London is famous as a purveyor of luxury fragrances and soaps. But did you know that the much-storied House of Yardley was born in England in the mid-seventeenth century? An entrepreneurial young man by the name of Jonathan Yardley obtained a royal warrant for the provision of all the soap to the City of London. The means by which this warrant was obtained are lost to history, however, we might suppose it involved payment to the monarch of a sizeable, and no doubt welcome, sum.
Nearly a century of gradual expansion followed, first to Australia and then across the world. A succession of Royal Warrants, innovations and new products were a testament to the popularity of the quintessential English fragrance.
Today, Yardley London embodies this rich and wonderful heritage with pride. They continue to create exquisite luxury items for discerning customers the world over, carrying on a tradition and lineage that other perfumery houses can only aspire to.
English Rose Eau de Toilette
A refreshing, light fresh floral with sparkling citrus and rose top notes blended with tea accord. Combining a complex floral heart of rosebud, magnolia, violet, and cassis with warm woody notes. It’s enhanced with patchouli and musks, adding velvety tones to the base.
English Lavender Eau de Toilette
A beautifully fresh, clean elegant fragrance. Combining bergamot and clary sage with a heart of English Lavender, eucalyptus, geranium, jasmine, chamomile, and violet. Enhanced with deeper, warm notes of wood, vanilla, and patchouli.
Lily of the Valley Eau de Toilette
A light, feminine white floral with fruit pear accords in the top note and a beautiful floral bouquet heart of lily accord. Blended with freesia and enhanced with a pretty, musky base.
I’ve been reading a lot about how customers are disappointed with these fragrances. Apparently, the formulas have been changed and the new scents are nothing like the previous ones. I personally cannot attest to this matter as I had never heard of Yardley or these fragrances prior to this review.
However, as someone who has never previously encountered the past version, I can say that I rather enjoy these “new” fragrances. They are light, modern, sophisticated, enchanting and refreshing. I’d say the perfect combination for springtime.
