Copycat Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Although i’m not a sweet lover,  a good cinnamon roll is my kryptonite.  My brother gave me this recipe a few years ago and it’s simply amazing! It’s also really easy to make.

Dough
  1. 1/2 tsp yeast
  2. 1 cup warm milk
  3. 1/2 cup white sugar
  4. 1/3 cup margarine or butter
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. 2 eggs
  7. 4 cups AP flour
Filling
  1. 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  2. 2 + 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
  3. 1/3 cup margarine
Icing
  1. 1/2 cup margarine
  2. 1 + 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  3. 1/4 cup cream cheese
  4. 1/2 tsp vanilla
  5. 1/8 tsp salt
Instructions
  1. Disolve the yeast in the warm milk, in a large bowl
  2. Add sugar, margarine, salt, eggs and flour & mix well
  3. Knead the dough in a large ball, using your hands dusted with flour
  4. Put dough in a bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour
  5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until it is approx 21 inches long and 16 inches wide, and 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  7. To make filling, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl
  8. Spread margarine over dough, sprinkle sugar mixture on top.
  9. Roll the dough
  10. Cut into 1 inch slices and place on a lightly greased baking pan
  11. Bake 10 minutes or until brown (I usually have to bake for longer, so just watch it - but don't over cook!)
  12. While rolls are baking, combine all icing ingredients and beat with an electric mixer until fluffy
  13. Spread icing generously on rolls while still warm (not hot!!)
Great Tip
  1. Make extra icing! I love adding a little extra in my plate.

    These are so good, but I haven’t made them for awhile since the girls moved out and it’s just me and hubby, and he doesn’t eat sweets, wonder if they could be frozen, hmmmm
