Sometimes we can find ourselves looking at the same four walls day in day out and struggling to find the motivation to get things done around the house. We might be able to stay on top of the daily chores, cleaning and shopping, but beyond that it is a bit like being on a hamster wheel. We get things done because we have to, often on automatic pilot, but we don’t make the time for anything else. We don’t get those things done that can bring a smile to our faces, that bring with them a sense of satisfaction and make a difference to how we spend our time at home. Often it is because we don’t quite know where to start, so today we are sharing with you 3 things worth doing in your home this week.
Tick off those jobs you keep meaning to do
There are always those jobs that we know we need to get around to, yet never seem to. They can always wait until tomorrow, or next week, but wouldn’t things be easier if they were sorted today? Of course, they would! So for this one, we want you to grab a pen and write a list of all of those tasks and jobs that you keep meaning to do.
Now that you have your complete list, work your way through each and everyone, in the order that you have written them down and arrange to get them done.
Before you know it, you are arranging for that appliance repair, for that tree to get chopped down, for the carpets to get cleaned.
You are going to feel so good when you have done this. It will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and you will wonder why it has taken you so long to get around to it.
Have a good declutter
Whether you know that you are a bit of a hoarder or you live a fairly clutter-free life, we can guarantee that if you have not had a good declutter recently, there will be things that you can pass on.
You can tackle this task by decluttering room by room. Take your time to do it thoroughly, and if you only have 3 hours, better to get a room done completely than three rooms done half-heartedly.
We should warn you that once you start doing this, you will get the decluttering bug and want to do every single room. You will be astonished by how many bags you manage to fill to pass on to be used by someone else. You will free up space and you will find things that you had long forgotten about that you can put back into use again.
Give it a fresh look
There are plenty of reasons to give your home a bit of a makeover and a fresh look. You might need to as your circumstances have changed or you might want to simply to fall back in love with your house.
If you have not redone any rooms recently, then start with the one that you spend the most time in. This is where you will feel the biggest benefit, so take a look around and think about how you would want the space to look and feel.
This need not be a huge task or expenditure, sometimes just rearranging furniture, painting one wall or adding new accent colours and accessories are all that are needed to overhaul a space.
