Everything Else Holiday Gift Guide Movies Recipes

Bake, Stream, Repeat – #NetfliXmas #StreamTeam

Christmas is just a few days away, have you finished your shopping yet? How about your holiday baking?  We are just finishing up the last of our baking. This time of year we really love to get the kids involved with the baking.  We usually make pies, cookies, chocolate bark, peppermint patties, fudge and so much more. We haven’t had the chance to do much baking this year as baby #4 arrived a little earlier then planed. But we did manage to bake a few batches of sugar cookies.

We are happy to share  our favourite sugar cookie recipes with you.
This is a very easy sugar cookie recipe that even the kids can make.

Ingredients
  1. 1/2cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  2. 1/2cup granulated sugar
  3. 1 large egg
  4. 1teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  5. 1/2teaspoon kosher salt
  6. 1 3/4cups all-purpose flour, spooned and levelled, plus more for the work surface
Instructions
  1. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter and granulated sugar on medium-high until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Beat in the egg, then the vanilla and salt.
  3. Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined (do not overmix). Shape into a 1-inch-thick disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 3 days.
  4. Heat oven to 350° F.
  5. On a floured surface, roll the dough ¼ inch thick. Using lightly floured 2- to 3-inch cookie cutters, cut the dough into shapes, flouring the cutters and re-rolling the scraps as necessary.
  6. Place 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly on the baking sheets, then transfer to a wire rack to cool before devouring.
