Simple Ways to Save Money

It’s no secret that money is tight for many people these days. With the economy in such a slump, it can be frustrating when you are trying to save money and still have money left over at the end of the month. Sometimes you have to get a quick loan in Missouri to get a few necessities, but you also want to make sure you live within your means, but there are also things like saving for retirement or paying off debt that requires money as well. So what can you do to help out? You would be surprised at how much money you can save every day just by making a few minor lifestyle changes.

– Buy Generic: It might be difficult to get used to not seeing your favourite brand but you can save money by buying generic.

– Cancel Cable TV: How much TV are you actually watching? Are you only watching your favourite show once a week? It’s probably going to cost you significantly less if you subscribe to a streaming service like Netflix if you are only watching TV here and there.

– Spend Less on Gasoline: Need to make a trip to the corner store? Take a walk instead of using your vehicle. You are less likely to buy unnecessary things if you are walking and have nowhere to put your purchases, other than your hands.

– Make Your Own Coffee at Home: Do you really need that $7 coffee full of sugar from the coffee shop every day on your way to work?

– Buy Local Produce: Buying from local farmers is a good way to support the community you live in and money will stay within your neighbourhood. Plus, it’s more sustainable than buying produce that has travelled thousands of miles before arriving at your grocery store.

– Use Coupons When Shopping Online or in-store: browse the internet, clip coupons from newspapers or magazines.  Find coupons for products you buy regularly. You would be surprised at how much you can save on each grocery trip when using coupons.

– Bring Your Own Bag When You Shop In Stores: most grocery stores now charge for plastic bags. If you bring your own reusable bag, you will save money in the long run.

– Use your time wisely to save money: for example, make a list before you go shopping so that you don’t purchase impulse items.

– Stay Away from Fast Food Restaurants and Convenience Stores That Offer Poor Health Choices: those places will rob money from your wallet. You are paying a premium price for the convenience.

It’s important to keep money in perspective. Don’t buy things just because other people have them or feel you need them for your own self-esteem. You don’t want the money that is left over at month end to be depleted by a purchase you will regret down the road.
