Finding your ideal casino game

We all have our favourites in life, from the meals that we like to eat to the places we want to go on vacation. The same is true of casino games. There are some that just suit our tastes and personalities better than others and the best online casinos have a wide range of options to choose from. So, it’s a question of deciding what you want from a game and picking which one’s for you. To give you a helping hand, here’s a quick guide to point you in the right direction.

Slots

There’s a very good reason why the slots on an online casino are some of the most popular casino games for Canadians. They’re quick and easy to play with a range of stakes to suit any budget. Plus, as there are so many to choose from, you’re sure to find a theme of game that suits you, whether you like a particular TV show or movie, one which takes you back to Ancient Egypt or down into a goldmine. The options really are endless. But the really great thing about slots is that they’re fast-moving and fun with bonus rounds and features that can see your winnings multiply fast. They’re also great if you want a game that doesn’t involve making too many decisions – you just spin the reels and trust to luck!

Roulette

Is there a more typical or more sophisticated casino game than roulette? It brings to mind James Bond at the table playing for large stakes and the online version can be just as captivating. Although he game itself is very simple, the fact that it allows for many different kinds of bet adds a very welcome level of complexity. So you can place bets that range from ones that will double your money up to wagers that could pay out 35 times your stake. The way that the table is laid out also makes it easy to bet on range of numbers if you’re wanting to hedge your bets. The best part of all, of course, is watching that little white ball circling the wheel before dropping into what you hope will be your lucky number.

Blackjack

Moving on to the first of our three card games, Blackjack is probably most people’s favourite for two reasons: the rules are very simple, and you can learn by heart the best moves to make. The object of the game is to get nearer to 21 than the dealer without going over it and, to guide you as to whether it’s best to take another card in any given situation, there is something called the basic strategy. This has been mathematically proven to tip the odds in your favour so all you have to do is memorize and act upon it. It’s this level of control that appeals to many players so if you like to be in charge of your own destiny and are comfortable with decision making, this could be the game for you.

Baccarat

The only decisions needed in this less well-known, but very popular, card game is whether the player or banker’s going to win, or whether it’s going to be a tie. Winning is a question of being the closest to get to 9 with two or three cards using a scoring system that ignores the first digit in the score. So, for example, if the cards add up to 17 the score is 7 or if it’s 19 it’s 9. Standard bets pay evens but if you correctly predict a tie between the banker and the player you’ll receive 8 or 9 times your original stake to reflect the relative unlikeliness of this occurring. So if you like a simple kind of guessing game with straightforward betting, then baccarat could be right up your street.

Poker

For a card game that couldn’t be more different from baccarat, you only have to look at poker. It’s a game of extreme strategy and cunning that goes way beyond looking at the values of the cards themselves. It’s also a question of trying to bluff if your hand’s not as good as it might be as well as trying to deduce whether others around the table are bluffing – hard when you’re in the same room, even tougher when it’s online. But the advantage is that, if you’re good, you can win pretty big at online poker, even if the hand you’ve been dealt isn’t that strong.

Of course, you don’t have to pick any one of these games to play. We can all fancy different games at different times, depending on our mood and how long we want to play for. So it’s all just a question of having fun and, hopefully, winning a little cash too!
