Review: Vita Liberata 2-3 Week Tan Mousse

I was super excited to receive this product in the mail.  Being super pale; as in the lightest shade in every brand of makeup ever known to mankind kind of pale, I’ll take any help I can get in the tanning department.

When I opened up the box I was pleased to see that the tanning mousse came with two tanning mitt applicators; one small and one giant.  I hate having the palms of my hands dyed from self-tanners, so these mitts are a godsend!

The night before my first application I showered, shaved and exfoliated with an oil free exfoliant.  This is an important step when using any self-tanner as the product won’t stick if there are any traces of oil left on the skin.

I decided to tan only one leg for comparison purposes.  I put my leg up on the counter and pumped some product onto it.  The mousse is so neat!  It’s kind of like the consistency of those magic hand soap pumps that turn liquid into foam!  The smell was very pleasant and not too strong.  It almost smells like a light crème brûlée!

The mousse was easy to spread and distribute evenly with the applicator mitt.  It left no streaks or light spots and I only needed to use three pumps for my lower leg and four for my upper leg.  A bit of the mousse did seep through the mitt onto my hand but it was a minimal amount and it washed off easily with hand soap.

The mitt has a soft, almost velvety feel to it but it doesn’t soak up and waste a lot of the tanner.  It’s reusable and easy to wash.  Just rinse it under the tap, squeeze out the excess water and let it air dry.

One of the best things about the Vita Liberata mousse was that it left no mess!  The mousse pump makes it easy to apply without getting product all over the bathroom.  For my second application, I didn’t even bother putting a towel down because there was no mess at all!

It was completely dry in about 15 minutes and once it dried there was virtually no smell at all.  Another great feature of this self-tanner was that it didn’t stain my sheets!  I’ve had to do some serious laundry magic because of tanning products in the past so this is a huge plus!

The results were great!  No streaking, no orange and it was a nice, even tan!  It even helped to correct the natural tan line on my foot from wearing my Tom’s all summer!  The tan looked natural and my one leg looked like it had just been on vacation while the other had to stay home.

The tan was definitely noticeable when compared to my neglected, pale leg and I was pleased that the tan didn’t fade after I showered a few times.  I will definitely use Vita Liberata Mouse again!
